In 2008, Julia was commissioned to write, direct and animate 'The Finger Trap',
a short stop frame production. 'The Finger Trap' was produced as part of the GMAC and
Scottish Screen short film initiative.

The film has screened internationally in over 40 festivals and in 2009 won the
Scottish BAFTA New Talent Award for best animation.
